The Quest for Gold – Ontario Athlete Assistance Program (OAAP) 2006/2007 is funded by the Provincial Government of Ontario, through the Ministry of Health Promotion. The Program will provide direct financial assistance to individual junior level athletes from Ontario through an “Ontario Card” designation. The intent of the OAAP is to provide funding to individual athletes based on their demonstrated commitment to high performance sport, allowing them to pursue athletic excellence at the highest levels of national and international competition.

Quest for Gold Shooting Sports Athlete Selection Clarification:
For the Quest for Gold Grant Athlete Selection Process, ranking will be based on the first record shots equal to the standard number of record shots for a group competing at either the Olympic or Paralympic Games. For instance, in either air rifle or pistol for women, the first 40 record shots would be counted to determine the athlete's percentile ranking. Any shots beyond the regulation score (if they had submitted a 60 shot match score) will not be considered for ranking purposes. The CSSA and Ontario Council of Shooters hopes that this clarification reduces any confusion or concerns.

Ontario Card Nominations Announced!

The Canadian Shooting Sports Association would like to thank and congratulate the talented athletes who have been nominated for Ontario Cards under the 2006-2007 Quest for Gold Ontario Athlete Assistance Program (OAAP). The athletes nominated were selected using the sport specific selection criteria developed by Canadian Shooting Sports, approved by its Board of Directors and applied by (the) CSSA Athlete Selection Committee.

We congratulate these athletes on their successful performances, and their nomination for Quest for Gold OAAP funding.
