CSSA Blast in Calgary - April 2-3, 2010

Calgary really pulled out all the stops this year in welcoming everyone to the largest gun show in Canada. Great weather, a generous portion of that famous white stetson western hospitality and a record 810 tables welcomed everyone including attendees to the Canadian Shooting Sports AGM to this great city. A special thanks to Jack Wallace and everyone at the Alberta Arms & Cartridge Collectors Assoc. for their support in making this such a successful show. As well, special thanks go out to John Hipwell of Wolverine Supplies, James Cox of The Shooting Edge, Twister Hiltz of Twister's Gun Shop and of course, CSSA Director Linda Baggeley of Bud Haynes Auctions for the fabulous work they did in making Team CSSA-Calgary 2010 such an outstanding success.

The Calgary Gun Show is always very busy, but this year was a block buster thanks to the attendance of Members of Parliament, Garry Breitkreuz and Candice Hoeppner. Both popular M.P.'s helped work the CSSA booth on Friday to meet gun owners, listen to their concerns and answer their questions on a variety of issues relating to firearms legislation. The booth did a booming business handing out information and selling memberships.

On Friday evening the CSSA sponsored our first western "Stick to your Guns Dinner" at the Blackfoot Inn and the capacity crowd enjoyed an evening of live entertainment, silent auctions and door prizes while feasting on a delicious buffet dinner. We were extremely pleased that Garry and Candice were able to take the time from their busy schedule to enjoy this fun filled evening with us.

While Friday was hectic, Saturday was even more so with CSSA Directors and members juggling their desire to spend more time at the show while also participating in a number of meetings including our Annual General Meeting, which also took place at the Blackfoot Inn.

Thanks to everyone for your support and involvement in this very productive and enjoyable weekend. We're already looking forward to next year!!
